Saddle and Stirrups Magazine

My Next Adventure

I am so happy to announce my newest adventure! On August 1, 2012 the brand new equestrian magazine, Saddle & Stirrups, will be launched exclusively for the iPad. I have been asked to be a monthly contributor, sharing my knowledge of rescue horses and horse rescue.

In my experience with working in horse rescue, one thing I know is that these heroes rescuing horses do so because they have felt the love and healing that comes from spending time with these magnificent creatures. The days and nights are long, at times it's sad and frustrating, but mostly it fills the heart with love and happiness... to see these beauties come back to life after some seriously horrendous situations.

Creating Awareness

Each month I will be featuring a different horse rescue. As a way to give thanks and create awareness for the caretakers of abused and neglected horses. Horse rescues run on donations and the help of volunteers (the horse crazy people, like me, willing to push manure carts up hill both ways in pouring rain!). What is missing is exposure.

I hope to help change the fate of horses in abusive situations, by giving you information on rescues around the world. How they are helping to save the majestic horse from a fate worse than death. Abusive trainers, neglect, kill yards, and unregulated slaughter. I also feel that it is important to share the positive side of horse rescue, we all know the horror stories, but it's the happy endings I want to share. When we see the good we are doing, by donating money or time, hay or new saddles, it encourages our inner spirit to keep supporting such an important cause... saving horses lives.

Now Its Your Turn to Help a Rescue!
(that's why you're here right?)

Every month you will have the opportunity to support the featured rescue by purchasing a fine art print, signed and numbered by the artist. (See my gallery to purchase prints!)  With 50% of the proceeds to benefit the featured rescue. Subscribe today to Saddle and Stirrups Magazine. Watch for my featured article and help support horse rescue worldwide! Check me (digital mystic) out on Facebook that way you'll be the first to know when a new edition hits the stands, or what horses I photographed, even what I ate for dinner. (ok that might be over sharing so I'll save that last one for my personal FB page.)

See ya on the newsstand!
